1. As the paper is so thin, I could use slightly thicker paper to give the book more weight, although it would still be very thin.
2. Early on in this brief GTS brought in a book which LOOKED thick but was actually as small book made out of thick card/board to give it a hefty look. I can't remember who made it, so if anyone remembers, get in touch!
3. The other idea i had was to print it on regular paper but have like 1000 extra blank pages in the book so that it was the right weight and thickness. Although I'm not sure about having so many blank pages, I think this solution would produce the best, most substansial feeling book.
Seems like its gonna cost about 200 to bind.
Please tell me what you think of the 3 solutions above.
ALSO.
MY MAGENTA TAPE FINALLY ARRIVED!!!
I was thinking about the lastminute brief and what was said about road sign to go WITH my tape line, and have been working on that idea. I thnk the tape line needs to sort of follw where the road signs point you to, I also need to think about what is ON the road signs.

The computer: it looks dated/odd[not charming/kitch]and does not appeal to slick businessmen. Should it be a touch-screen plasma?
The pink line: What else could it be? Needs to be more 'dangerous' but still about that.
Could you paint road signage?
Look at instalation advertising/signage/the pedestrian way.
Pink tape? Arrested by a pink policeman?
Hope this helps Sam - give me a ring if you need me to explain more... good luck!

Hey dude option 1 thin book could work if you've seen like psalm books in chapels, really thin plus thin paper? Option 2 was designed by Paul Davis who set the brief, option 3 sounds quite cool like you might have to find the pages amongst a lot of bullshit blank pages? Hope that helps x
i also am a fan of the blank pages.. i think the thin pages are much more genuine
I agree with JC LP and you on option three...
although looking for the pages sounds a bit complicated...
they could be colored and the rest white? don't know if that is very relevant...

Definitely keep the paper stock as close as possible to bible paper - the translucent quality lends itself to the strength of your concept on a number of levels - the sceptical perspective modern day culture holds for both religion and contacting the dead. The translucency echoes the transparency of this cynicism epitomized and summed up in your rather fetching title. The paper stock will also feel really nice! Are you going to include a cotton book mark sewn into the spine? I would be careful about padding the book with empty pages as comments before have suggested, it needs to flow with your concept not be forced. However, it could leave dangerous space for miscommunication of your concept. Perhaps the footnote of the blank page could have some clever copy? Just something that doesn't make the reader/judges :) think that all these blank pages are just filling up a hefty spine...
Heidi.
hey sam....
for sure keep the paper thin
or....
did you ever see those things when you were younger, there looked like really thick books but you opened then and you could store stuff inside. Maybe you could make the book look really tick but it open to show the book you make. I'll draw you a pic and show you tomorrow if you don't understand.x
